Antipodean Opaleye
The Opaleye is a medium-sized dragon, often weighing 2-3 tonnes. It was iridescent, pearly scales and pupil-less eyes that match, making it widely known as the most beautiful dragon around. It is not incredibly aggressive and produces a scarlet flame. Opaleyes prefer to eat sheep.
Dragons rarely ever fall ill. They are arguably the most powerful and magical beasts of the Wizarding World, and as such only highly trained Healing Magizoologists will be called to work with them.
Opaleyes aren't considered too dangerous on a normal basis, but they can develop one of the nastiest illnesses known to wizard and beast alike. This condition is called "Ragnarok", after the Norse prophecy of a great and final war. It is the most troublesome illness ever discovered and is sometimes also called "Semmisnek", meaning "void". It is defined by its ability to completely take over the Opaleye. The first symptoms are odd behaviour - the Opaleye may
grow intensely aggressive, perhaps very excited, or even quite solemn. The next sign is it's scales. Opaleyes' vibrant and majestic glittering scales will begin to give off a noxious plum coloured smoke, and within days they become an inky black colour. Anyone - beast or human alike (the exception being other Opaleyes) - who gazes into the abyss the dragon has now become will feel the utmost emptiness, much like one would experience after a Dementor's Kiss. The final stage of an Opaleye's descent into Ragnarok is the changing of it's eyes into a dark crimson colour. Though there is no proof to the statement, as anyone who has gazed into the eyes has died very shortly after, Wizard legends say that gazing into the eyes of an Opaleye infected by Ragnarok is like gazing into the most dark and evil places and thoughts of the world. One who gazes into the eyes of an Opaleye with this illness find themselves screaming an unearthly scream before dying what looks like a very painful death - and, in fact, disappearing in a whirlwind of black smoke.
There is no known cure for Ragnarok, as it is very difficult to cure something you cannot approach. Opaleyes with Ragnarok are kept together in very deep, dark caves, sealed off from the world. Luckily for everyone, only one
Opaleye seems to develop Ragnarok every 365 years. It is currently unknown as to why Ragnarok does not affect fellow Opaleyes. It is also unknown what occurs when two Opaleyes with Ragnarok look into each other's eyes, although this is a topic of steadily increasing interest.

Common Welsh Green
The Common Welsh Green is known as the least troublesome of all dragon species. It feeds on sheep and has a surprisingly melodious roar, and it's green colour aids it in blending in with the grass of its homeland.
The Welsh Green's illness is not taken very seriously by some, but as Welsh Greens have become increasingly infected and thus are becoming more detrimental to the world, more attention is being paid to them. Welsh Greens can develop a
sort of condition called Sonika. When a Welsh Green has Sonika, they become hyperactive and far more fond of roaring than before. The issue with this is that not only are they hard to contain, but their roar becomes such an immense blast of sound that it can physically push back anything in its way and send objects flying through the air. Larger infected Welsh Greens can even crack mountains with their roars, and on rare occasion can set off natural disasters. When infected with Sonika a Welsh Green will also become sadistic - they will get pleasure in watching boulders they roar at soaring through the air and landing on creatures and Muggle villages alike, and will become giddy at the sight of their reservations' employees toppling down the sides of mountains.
Luckily their is a very simple cure for Sonika. A Welsh Green must be approached with a wide smile and a large reed or piece of grass. Those able to produce noises by blowing through these reeds or blades of grass will be
rewarded with a very confused look from the Welsh Green, followed by it vomiting and then falling over, sleeping momentarily afterwards. It is because of this solution that it is believed that Sonika is caused by something the Welsh Green eats, but it has yet to be discovered what exactly it is that the Welsh Green must eat for this to occur.

Peruvian Vipertooth
The Peruvian Vipertooth is the smallest and fastest of all known dragons. They have extremely venomous fangs, and have a particular love for feasting on
humans. Vipertooths are also very difficult to tame as their scales are smooth and their horns are quite short.
The Vipertooth is one of the only dragons to have more than one known ailment. The first is called "Cataphractos", which is Latin for "armored." A
Vipertooth with cataphractos is often referred to as a "phracted Vipertooth." Cataphractos is defined by the immense and sudden thickening of a Vipertooth's scales, causing the beneficial ability to consider itself practically
indestructible - however, a phracted Vipertooth must pay the price as well as it's increased weight prevents it from flying. Cataphractos is not technically an illness, and is considered to be more of a genetic mutation passed through
generations. Often times cataphractos is compared with the gene that makes some wizards bald early on in life. The reason cataphractos is an issue is because a phracted Vipertooth gains extreme confidence and is very difficult to tame. Phracted Vipertooths often will charge at their confinements and refuse to be controlled, which can and has lead to some very unfortunate events.
Cataphractos cannot be considered "curable." Instead, to deal with the issue, a Vipertooth must be tricked into eating something containing a love potion. Oddly enough, love potions have a calming effect on Vipertooths, though some do display an affectionate nature after ingesting a particularly well-made love potion.
The other issue a Vipertooth can have is known as "Tigris". Tigris can come in two types:
Type 1: The Vipertooth will develop tiger-like stripes on it's scales which burn to the touch. They will become incredibly fixated on hunting and pouncing on anything that moves. In addition, they gain the ability to paralyze beings with their roar.
Type 2: The Vipertooth gains the ability to spit their venom. Venom oozes uncontrollably out of their fangs and as such Vipertooths with Type 2 Tigris are often droolers.
Tigris is caused by a Vipertooth that is forced to be fairly sedentary. To cure Type 1 Tigris, one must apparate directly under the dragon with a broom and tickle it's belly with their wand. This causes the dragon to fall over. An injection of powdered Bicorn horn and veritaserum must then be administered to the third artery above the middle wing bone. To cure Type 2 Tigris is a difficult task, as a Vipertooth with this illness is nearly impossible to approach, and the cure also requires TWO healing Magizoologists or one Magizoologist and one brave person. To cure Type 2 Tigris, one must lull the Vipertooth to sleep with a song and place ice cubes in it's mouth. This must be done magically using the levitation spell, as the mouth is too dangerous to go near. One wizard must carefully levitate the upper part of the dragon's mouth while another levitates ice cubes into it.
